SPL Summer Hangouts!

Relationship-based summer camp programming for SPL members ages 5-9 years old.

With a 1:2 ratio, we focus on relationship-building between children and their staff. We utilize sensory-rich activities to capture your child’s engagement and imagination. Our hangout welcomes neurodivergent, disabled, neurospicy, and neurotypical children who benefit from a smaller environment with supportive routines, lots of movement & sensory play, and the freedom to explore in their own way!

Frequently Asked Questions

YES!

NO, but we would ask you to come support your child in the bathroom if they need help with more extensive problems (i.e. changing pull-up).

No for Berkeley- we do not have an outdoor space at that site.
Yes for Belmont-this is mostly an outdoor space with lots of shaded areas.

IT DEPENDS. If your child struggles to stay safe without an adult present, we’d recommend you provide an aide. This includes a child who elopes, uses their body aggressively and harms other children (intentionally and often), or if your child is used to having an aide in their school setting. An informal assessment will determine whether your child needs an aide. We require a family to bring their own private aide who has worked with the child in therapeutic/academic settings to work directly with your child.

YES. We rely on the principles of play coaching for our camp curriculum and train our summer camp staff using the same framework!

YES. We open the camp to all members of SPL, which includes neurotypical children and siblings!

Your child must be at least 4 years 11 months at the time of camp starting to be able to join us. If your child is over age 9, we can make exceptions but need to chat individually with you first.

YES, for Berkeley only. If you are a member, please request your case manager to cover camp. If you are not a member please email berkeley@spiritedplaylabs.com for an intake to see if you qualify for camp. We are not vendored for Belmont camp.

We will use a LOOSELY structured schedule to support your child’s participation in a group setting. Think water play, sensory play, heavy work, music, gross motor activities, fine motor activities, chatting & laughing, and more! Our intention is to create a therapeutically supportive and FUN space for your child to enjoy their summer.

We cannot refund you if you cannot attend camp. If you need to cancel before camp begins, you will receive a 50% credit toward a membership or birthday party if cancellation occurs more than 4 weeks prior to the start of your child’s first day of camp. We cannot provide refunds for days you don’t attend.

NO, we require you to pay the $100 for the whole week to get the additional hour of 12-1pm for your child. We require parents to bring lunch for their child if they are staying the extra hour.

NO, but we will need to devise an action plan if it seems like your child isn’t enjoying themselves or is needing more support to access camp safely.

Our camp costs the same as last year- $595 per week. However, we now required 2 weeks commitment for camp. We have found that the staff and children benefit from having more continuity week to week! Please note we can do payment plans and sliding scale; speak to your site’s manager for this!

Children who love child-led, loosely structured fun. Children who benefit from support related to emotional regulation, transitions, relationship-building, sensory regulation, and general group dynamics. Children who benefit from movement-based activities. Children with separation anxiety. Children who seek autonomy.

Parents who want structured school-like activities. Children who need a large outdoor space for regulation. Children who enjoy single-theme camps (i.e. art, STEM, etc). Children who struggle to stay in the building at SPL.
